Studio Policy and Contract

Piano Term:

Includes approximately 10 months of piano lessons every calendar year.

I only observe the following holidays as identified on the Palm Beach County school calendar -www.palmbeachschools.org

·   Labor Day

·   Thanksgiving week (Mon - Sun)

·   Winter Break

·   Spring Break

·   Memorial Day

·   Summer Vacation/Break

Piano lessons will be held on all other school work/holiday breaks.

Tuition:

Tuition is due on the first scheduled lesson of each month.

Your monthly tuition fee is $_______________ per month.  Lessons are ______ times per week for ________minutes.

The monthly tuition fee remains the same throughout the piano term period (whether there are 4 or 5 lessons a month).  I do not charge less or make fee deductions during the month of November, December, and Palm Beach School work/holiday breaks.

Absenteeism:

According to the policy of the National Music Teachers’ Association, makeup lessons are not available.  However, I will allow one make up lesson each month, but it will need to be scheduled to fit around other students and my schedule.  Any missed lesson by a student will not be reimbursed or deducted.

Lessons missed by me will be rescheduled or deducted from next month’s tuition payment.

Termination of Lessons:

Students/Parents must give a 30 day notice prior to terminating his/her scheduled lessons.

As a teacher, I can suggest terminating lessons for such reasons as: non-compliant and defiant student, consistently missing too many lessons, and frequent late tuition fee payment.

Summer Study:

My piano studio or in-home lessons will be closed during Summer Break.  No tuition fee will be charged during this break.

Festivals, Contest and Recitals:

I encourage one recital at the end of each school year for all students.  This is a good opportunity to share their accomplishments with family and friends.

Through my membership in FSMTA (Florida State Music Teachers Association), PBCMTA (Palm Beach County Music Teachers Association), MTNA (National Music Teachers Association) and NAMTA (North American Music Teachers Association), my students have the opportunity to participate in different music events, such as: Recitals, Competitions, Festivals, State Theory Tests and State Ensembles and much more. Participation in these events are strongly recommended but not forced as they will increase the students’ confidence and ability to perform in front of an audience, and is an integral part of music education.  Please note, for beginners. I strongly encourage that we wait until the student is ready to play in front of an audience.

Practice and Parental Support Expectations:

Regular and sufficient practice time at home is the surest way for consistent progress.

Students shall come to the lessons prepared to play the right notes and rhythm, so time in the class will be spent on new instruction instead of correcting notes and rhythm.

Active parent support is an important factor in the success of your child’s musical training.

If your child develops any symptoms of sickness, PLEASE do not bring the child to the studio or have me come to your in-home lesson.  Advanced notification/cancellation is appreciated.
